Community Guidelines

Last updated: March 24, 2026

1. Our Community Values

Mixed Race Community (MRC) exists to celebrate the full richness of mixed heritage and identity. We are a space where people of all mixed backgrounds — whether you know your exact heritage or are still discovering it — are welcomed with respect and curiosity.

Every member of this community deserves to feel safe, seen, and celebrated. Our guidelines exist not to restrict expression, but to ensure that every interaction on MRC uplifts rather than diminishes the people in it.

2. Content Standards

Be respectful. Treat every member with dignity regardless of their heritage, background, skin tone, appearance, language, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.

No hate speech. Content that dehumanises individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, or any protected characteristic is strictly prohibited.

No discrimination. Do not deny, minimise, or police anyone's identity. Statements like "you don't look mixed" or "that's not a real heritage" are not welcome here.

No harassment. Do not target, intimidate, threaten, or persistently contact any member in a way that causes distress. This includes public posts, comments, and direct messages.

Heritage-positive content only. MRC celebrates ALL mixed identities. Content that ranks, mocks, or compares heritages in a demeaning way is not permitted.

3. Prohibited Conduct

Slurs and derogatory language: Use of racial, ethnic, or other derogatory slurs is strictly prohibited, regardless of intent.

Sharing personal information: Do not post other members' personal information (name, address, phone number, workplace, etc.) without their explicit consent. This includes screenshots of private conversations.

Spam and self-promotion: Repetitive, unsolicited commercial content, chain messages, or coordinated inauthentic behaviour is not allowed.

Impersonation: Do not impersonate other members, public figures, or MRC staff. Creating fake accounts to evade a ban is a permanent violation.

Illegal content: Any content that is illegal — including but not limited to content that exploits minors — will be removed immediately and reported to relevant authorities.

Misinformation: Do not deliberately spread false information that could harm individuals or communities.

4. Moderation Process

First violation: You will receive a warning from our moderation team explaining what content violated our guidelines. The content in question will be removed.

Second violation: Your account will be restricted for 24 hours. During this period you will be unable to post, comment, or send messages. The content will be removed.

Third violation: Your account will be permanently banned from Mixed Race Community. Serious violations (such as sharing illegal content, doxxing, or severe harassment) may result in an immediate permanent ban, bypassing earlier stages.

MRC reserves the right to remove any content that violates these guidelines, even if a formal violation notice has not yet been issued.

5. Appeals Process

If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, you have the right to appeal. Send an appeal to community@mixedracecommunity.com within 30 days of the moderation action.

Your appeal should include your username, the date of the action, the content or account affected, and a clear explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect.

We will review all appeals fairly and respond within 14 days. Appeal decisions are final.

6. How to Report Content and Users

If you encounter content or behaviour that violates these guidelines, please use the report function available on every post, comment, and profile. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team.

For urgent matters — such as immediate threats or content involving minors — please also contact us directly at community@mixedracecommunity.com with the subject line URGENT.

All reports are treated confidentially. We do not reveal who filed a report to the reported user.

7. DSA Transparency

In compliance with the EU Digital Services Act (DSA), Mixed Race Community will publish annual moderation statistics. These reports will include the number of reports received, content removed, accounts restricted or banned, and appeals filed and resolved. Our first annual transparency report will be published following our public launch.

8. Content Ownership

You own the content you create and post on MRC. By posting content, you grant Mixed Race Community a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, distribute, and promote your content within the platform and in marketing materials related to MRC.

This licence ends if you delete the content or your account, except where we are required to retain it for legal or safety reasons.

We will never sell your content to third parties.

9. Contact the Moderation Team

For questions about these guidelines, to appeal a moderation decision, or to report a serious concern, contact us at community@mixedracecommunity.com. Appeals must be submitted within 30 days of the moderation action.
